Set in a retro ancient era, Shen Man, a widow raising a young child, is left with only a leaky old drying room by her biased in-laws. When her toddler runs a high fever, she boils the last of the yard-grown hawthorns into hot soup, which not only saves her son but also unlocks a surprising business opportunity. Building her fortune from this hawthorn soup venture, she builds a warm new life among her flourishing red hawthorn trees. She exacts sweet revenge on her once-disrespectful in-laws while finding a true life partner.
