Su Wan, a modern archaeology genius, travels back to ancient times as an orphan. Mistaken for an old friend's daughter by Zhou, a county school instructor, Zhou tries to help her get a scholar title through backdoor. However, Su Wan, whose thesis focuses on the Great Jing Dynasty's imperial examination system, knows the Confucian classics by heart. She secretly prepares for the exam: her "Zhou Li and Contemporary Society" in the county exam shocks the examiner; her "River Defense Strategy" in the provincial exam attracts the prefect's visit; in the palace exam, she even exposes a powerful official's fraud in public. When "Su Wan" tops the triple-top-scholar list, Zhou laughs and says, "I wanted to give her a shortcut, but she turned it into a grand avenue!" Those who called her a "backdoor dummy" are now speechless.
