Lin Xiaoman, an overworked office drone, is venting on the rooftop of her office building at midnight when a man in ancient costume crashes down—Gu Zhao, the God of War from the Spirit Realm, who fell to the modern world after failing a thunder tribulation and lost all his powers. To make matters worse, Lin is bound to the "God of War Recovery System," tasked with healing Gu using "crude but heartwarming methods"—or they'll both turn into "frozen statues on the rooftop." Thus, the office drone is forced to embark on a hilarious redemption journey: feeding him milk tea, teaching him to scroll short videos, and dancing square dances with him. Gradually, the icy Gu Zhao finds himself falling for the warmth of human life in her "chaos"—turns out, the brightest starry sky isn't the vast one in the Spirit Realm, but the light in the eyes of the person beside you.
