Chen Zhen, an intern screenwriter, often dreams about her future lover: someone who picks up her scattered scripts, hands her perfectly warm hot cocoa on rainy nights, and even has a silver cufflink with a distinct pattern—so clear it feels etched in her mind. But in reality, she meets Zhang Haowen, a sarcastic advertising director—their first meeting has him criticizing her script as "too cliché to guess the ending, less layered than a convenience store ice cream cone" and stealing her usual café seat. Gradually, though, Zhang's little gestures grow familiar: steadying her nearly fallen laptop, leaving a half-sugar hot cocoa (her favorite) on her desk during overtime, and even that silver cufflink—exactly like in her dreams! When she asks shyly, "Did you know me before?" Zhang smiles and takes out her unpublished novel from three years ago: "You wrote me into your story first." Turns out those "foreseen" details were all "coincidences" Zhang practiced hundreds of times, following the male lead in her novel—he'd long walked into her life along the path she'd written.
