After losing her home in a sudden flood, Lin Wan has no choice but to move to her daughter's city home. She spends all her savings supporting her daughter's family, taking care of housework and grandson, yet faces cold mockery from her son-in-law and indifference from her daughter, being treated as a burden. When she's in low spirits, compensation for her old house arrives, only to be demanded by her daughter and son-in-law for their grandson's education. Heartbroken, Lin Wan refuses and starts a new life with the money: learning calligraphy, visiting art exhibitions, picking up old hobbies, finally gaining long-lost dignity and freedom.
