Lin Xiaoman, a down-on-her-luck urban worker who just lost her job and got dumped, picks up a tail-less fox late at night. To her shock, the fox transforms into Hu Jiu, a young prince from the Qingqiu Fox Clan. He fled his clan to avoid a political marriage and must find his "fated groom" (per fox tradition) in a month to return. But Lin interrupts his ritual, binding them to the "Fox Groom-Seeking System"—Lin becomes Hu Jiu's backup groom candidate, helping him with hilarious tasks like using a smartphone or handling terrible blind dates. As they bicker and bond, Hu Jiu falls for Lin, while Lin uncovers the truth: she's Hu Jiu's past-life savior, and his missing tail was cut off by heavenly soldiers centuries ago when he protected her. Through funny mishaps, they rediscover their past and find sweet love in human chaos.
