Lin Chu was originally Mu Xian, the immortal in charge of all trees under Huang Daxian (the Great Immortal Huang). She was banished to the mortal world for pleading for a human, only to see her family framed and executed by the powerful head of the Sun family. To avenge them, she disguised herself as "Mu Xiaotang", an orphan, and infiltrated the Sun family. She tricked Sun Yu, the eldest son, into a "fake marriage" contract—she'd help him shed his "dandy waste" image to fight for the family head position, while he'd assist her in uncovering the truth about her family's massacre. As her plan unfolds, Lin Chu discovers Sun Yu has been pretending to be a dandy and is linked to Huang Daxian's thousand-year tribulation. Their growing affection turns this "revenge contract" into a vortex of love and hatred.
