Fashion magazine reporter Su Wan breaks into the Qinling Mountains to dig up the story of the "missing ranger's journal," but gets trapped in a forest station by a rainstorm, clashing with the silent ranger Lin Shen—she finds him dull and old-fashioned, he thinks she's spoilt and breaks the rules. Until Su Wan finds an old photo hidden by Lin Shen: her missing grandfather, whom she's been searching for, is exactly Lin Shen's master. And Lin Shen stays here to fulfill his master's last wish: "wait for an old friend." On a rainy night, they work together to fix a blown-over fence and fall into the mud. In that moment, Su Wan suddenly understands: the rose's thorns are protection, the pine's silence is perseverance, and the fiercest rose will eventually stay for the most steady pine.
