Lin Xiu, the last immortal cultivator from Qingqiu Mountain, descends to the mortal world to retrieve the lost "Spirit Pearl." He stumbles into "Guixu Pavilion" and meets Su Wan, a cheeky innkeeper who mistakes him for a suitor. She flirts with silk handkerchiefs and osmanthus wine, but he only cares about drawing spirit arrays and reciting purification spells. Yet when Su Wan is attacked by an evil spirit, Lin Xiu discovers her jade pendant holds the Spirit Pearl's aura—and her "flirting" is a clumsy attempt to reconnect with her childhood savior: ten years ago, little Taoist Lin Xiu saved orphaned Su Wan from a wolf demon. Now torn between his immortality quest and growing feelings for Su Wan, Lin Xiu panics: "I came to cultivate immortality... but why do I mess up my sword spells when she cries?"
