Su Xiaotang, an intern ghost messenger from the Netherworld, accidentally reaps the soul of Lu Zhaoyuan, the cold and aloof junior uncle of a cultivation sect. To fix her mistake (and avoid being scattered into ashes), she’s forced to go to the mortal world and help him complete his "tribulation to become an immortal." So Xiaotang clings to Lu: she uses netherfire to bake cultivation pills but burns them to charcoal, tries to shield him from thunder tribulation but accidentally hits the sect leader’s ganoderma garden, and even hides his life-bound sword in the River of Forgetfulness... Lu, who initially finds her annoying, gradually grows fond of Xiaotang’s mischief. But Xiaotang doesn’t know—Lu has long seen through her identity, and his "tribulation" is a lie. He’s just been waiting for a "little fool" brave enough to break into the Netherworld.
