Lin Xiaoman, a girl from a small town, returns home to revive the dying Nuo Opera to fulfill her grandfather's last wish, only to stumble upon a secret her grandfather hid for ten years—his partner's mysterious death was linked to the "forbidden tune" of Nuo Opera. When she tries to reenact the forbidden tune to uncover the truth, the shadows behind the masks, the villagers' collective dissuasion, and the sudden appearance of a witness from that year make a drama of inheritance and redemption unfold simultaneously on the old stage and in reality.
