Shen Yu, a classical painting restorer, is determined to retrieve half of her grandfather’s legacy—a fragmented Song Dynasty painting *Playing Fish*. The problem? The other half is in the hands of Yan Shichuan, an antique dealer who once called her restoration style “ruining relics”. They clash fiercely over ideals: Shen Yu insists on preserving the painting’s original cracks to keep its historical warmth, while Yan advocates adding new details to “bring relics to life”. To fend off Yan’s family’s marriage pressure, they fake a relationship. As the painting is restored, Shen Yu uncovers Yan’s secret—his “radical” approach is actually to protect endangered relics. And by the time the painting is whole, she realizes her “hatred” for him has long turned into something sweeter: love.
