Down-and-out office worker Ming accidentally finds a shadow puppet lamp left by his grandfather, rumored to reverse life. Late at night, he manipulates puppets to alter past moments: fix failing college entrance exam, win back his missed lover, get back at workplace injustice. But every reversal brings backlash: his lover loses memory, colleague gets injured, his lifespan shrinks sharply. Ming gradually realizes life's regrets are its inherent hue; forced twists ruin the present. He gives up altering the past, finds his value in the light, uncovers the secret between his grandpa and the lamp, and lives a steadfast life eventually.
