Lin's Mourning Shop on Northeast Old Street is a three-generation team specializing in "yin活儿" (rituals for the dead). Lin Xiaoman (played by Cai Meixian), the shopkeeper, strictly follows the family rule: "No living person shall enter the mourning site." But this rule is broken by Shen Zhao (played by Huang Xinyue), a female journalist who breaks into the ritual to investigate her missing best friend—her intrusion triggers the backlash of the dead's obsessions, forcing the two to team up to solve multiple strange incidents caused by "living people violating taboos." As the investigation deepens, a secret Lin Xiaoman has hidden for 20 years emerges: her father's "accident" is actually part of the same陈年 unjust case (old unjust case) as the disappearance of Shen Zhao's best friend. When the truth behind the taboo approaches, will she choose to stay out of trouble by adhering to the family rule, or break the rules for justice?
