Poor scholar Lin Mo, on his way to the capital for the imperial examination, gets involved in a series of mysterious murder cases in a deserted ancient temple—pilgrims have been disappearing one after another. As a weak scholar, he accidentally awakens a half-volume exorcism scroll left by his ancestors, forced to struggle between terrifying demons and suspicious humans. As he digs deeper, he finds all clues point to the gentle tea seller girl in the temple. The woman he has already fallen in love with secretly is actually a demon suppressed by his ancestors a hundred years ago. Now he faces a dilemma: drive out the demon, or protect the one he loves?
