After losing her job, Lin Xiao takes over a failing butcher shop in an old alley to make ends meet. She notices regular customers react differently to butcher Lao Zhou’s line “The meat’s fresh” — some grateful, some evasive, some guilty. Lao Zhou produces aged receipts, revealing his hidden secret: he guards not just a butcher shop with integrity, but also hearts misunderstood by the world, and his kindness warms every corner of the old alley quietly.
