Twenty-year-old Lin Xiaoman has just taken over her grandfather's role as a "ruin guardian," watching over the remains of Fuxing Li, an old alley in Kunming. Her only companion is an earless tile cat on the roof ridge. Until the day the demolition team's excavator smashes the old wall—there, in the dust, stands a boy in a dark green shirt, holding a broken tile, his eyes red: "If you dare leave, I'll shatter right here." It turns out every ruin guardian has a century-old tile cat spirit by their side—they survive on human attachment. What her grandfather never told her? This tile cat has been waiting under her eaves for eighteen years. As the demolition countdown begins, Xiaoman isn't just guarding the old alley—she's guarding the secret of "attachment" hidden in the tiles.
