In the early years of the Republic of China, female student Su Xiaotang accidentally gets involved in an assassination plot while saving a stranger on a train. Little does she know, the man she risked her life to protect is Gu Chengze, the young marshal of the northern warlords. To Gu's shock, this girl is the little kid who gave him half a pancake and shielded him from bullets in a refugee pile a decade ago. To force her to admit her identity, Gu imprisons Su by his side in the name of "protection", shifting from cold forced possession to uncontrollable heartache when she's wronged. A train rescue revives their childhood bond, culminating in a promise of life and death.
