On New Year's Eve, Wang Beichen, a geeky homebody playing games, is suddenly kicked in by Lin Zhao—an ancient-style youth in a flying fish robe. Holding a faded half-jade pendant, Lin shouts Wang's dad "Father" with red eyes, insisting on "taking back his abducted father"! Forced to live together, they go from fighting over the last bucket of instant noodles to shielding each other from terrible blind dates, developing an indescribable bond amid chaos. But just as Lin learns to use a phone and Wang saves money for ancient fabric, Lin's ancient master arrives with pursuers, and Wang's dad pulls out an old diary—revealing Lin is the "time-traveling orphan" the Wangs saved in an old mansion 20 years ago? A displaced family love across time, a redemption about "protection" and "original intention"—can they hold onto this warmth that's "more than brothers"?
