Distant Longing

Su Xiao, owner of an old bookstore, has been guarding her grandfather's "Longing Mailbox" for three years, writing a letter every day to her missing boyfriend Lin Mo, a documentary director—his last message was left under the starry sky in Tibet. Until one day, a man wrapped in a Tibetan robe pushes the door open and hands over Lin Mo's notebook: inside are unsent starry sky photos, with a note on the back saying, "I never left; I just wanted to bring back the brightest star for you." It turns out Lin Mo had an avalanche accident and lost his memory, saved by herdsmen. Now that he's regained his memory, he crossed the snow-capped mountains with three years of longing, just to keep a "never-ending" promise.
