At a family hotpot gathering, the protagonist uses a seemingly ordinary spoon of free seasoning to publicly settle the five-year emotional debt with his cousin's family. He lists all the benefits they've taken under the name of affection over the years: exaggerated red envelopes, down payments for a house that were 'lent and then taken back', and their taken-for-granted demands. He exposes their greedy hypocrisy, leaving them humiliated in public and forcing them to pay for their schemes. He breaks the moral shackle that 'family affection should be selfless', puts the vague emotional debt on the table, and slaps the hypocritical relatives hard in the face.
