Su Wan, a classical painting restorer, runs her grandmother’s old studio. She unexpectedly receives a mysterious order: to repair a Song Dynasty painting *Reunion Under the Full Moon* that’s missing the "moon" section. The deliverer, Gu Jingshen, a cultural relic photographer, claims he’s entrusted by his grandfather but often rummages through the studio’s old items at night. Su Wan suspects his ulterior motive, but during restoration, she finds her grandmother’s handwriting under the paint: "Wait for the clouds to clear, wait for the moon to be full, wait for someone who hasn’t returned." It turns out Gu’s grandfather was her grandmother’s comrade who protected the painting during the war and went missing. Gu Jingshen’s "motive" is to fulfill his grandfather’s last wish—to tell her grandmother, "I didn’t let you down." When the final "moon" stroke is added, the two look at the full moon outside the window and realize: the fullest moon is never in the painting, but in the hearts that span two generations and finally dare to love.
