Lin Xiaoman, regarded as a "burden" by her original family, clutching the old pocket watch left by her mother, finds Chen Ye, a famous "tough guy" on the street—she wants to exchange her only memento for his "protection" to escape her uncle who plans to sell her to pay off debts. Chen Ye originally intended to take the watch and leave, but the stubbornness in the girl's eyes reminded him of himself when he took the blame for his brother years ago: two people dragged into the abyss by original sin have become each other's "lifeline".
